Twitter, 2020, Single-channel video Twitter explores the intersection of technology, communication, and the natural world. In Japan, artificial bird sounds are used in subway and train stations to guide passengers, an attempt to synthesize nature for urban convenience. In this video, I record the artificial bird sound and play it to real birds in a shop setting. The birds respond, and the cycle of communication continues as I introduce the sound to another bird, and then another. Their reactions—treating the sound as their own—highlight the fluidity between constructed signals and the innate processes of nature. The work reflects on the evolving relationship between human innovation and the natural world, examining how technology reshapes and redefines communication in our increasingly digitized society.
